Curiosity killed the cat

Ok, I need some advice of my own. How do you know if you're going through pre-menopause? Peri-menopause? or what other names there are out there? What is the normal age? I mean, my mom went through it early in life like mid-40's. I am always hot and I heard this is one of the things that is associated with it. Not to mention that my cycle has a mind of its own. It didn't come on for 60 days and then there it was....then it was 45 days and so forth and so on. What is pre verses peri? Ok, I'm curious, so if you know anything about it, please send me a shout out.

Lovingly yours,

  1. Oh, boy now this is the topic of all topics!!! I've gone on the internet and looked it up and I don't know if I know for sure whether I'm experiencing, peri, post or pre. All I know is my body has been changing since after 40. I have found that diet and excercise have helped me with my mood swings, bloating, headaches, flashes, etc.,

I'm not sure where Forest Park is I'm from Jersey:) There is so much water here right now, I'm just so Thankful to not be flooded right now:)

  2. Hey QueenBee!

You know I have no reason to worry about this now at my young age, but I do know that weight can play a big role in changes like this to your body.

My aunts are all very very very curvy women so things happen to them differently then my mom because she's not as thick.

  3. Check out books by Christine Northrup. She's been a guest on Oprah and she writes about menopause and perimenopause. She shoots it straight up.

  4. I heard doctors can give an examination or give a test to check certain levels in your body to let you know if you're in peri-menopause. I didn't need a doctor to tell me, my first sign (they are different with every woman) was severe fatigue. I thought I was sick or something because my body was more tired than usual;it was the strangest thing having NO energy at all. Then the night sweats came when I thought hubby was urinating on me in the bed. I know, funny huh? I had to blame somebody!

I agree with Wanda, exercise, rest, and good nutrition help a whole lot! Peri-m. is your body preparing for the actual menopause (no blood flow). You can be in the peri stage for up to five years. We're so lucky, huh?
