Wrinkly Finkley

My 13 year old son almost tried me this morning. The key word here is "almost". I don't know how many times I have told him over and over again to get his clothes out at night so he don't have to be rushing around early in the morning. He knows without a shadow of a doubt that we leave our house at 6:50 a.m., maybe 6:55 in order for me to drop him off at school and then for me to get to work. How come at 6:45, he is walking out of his room with the most wrinkled shirt on you have ever seen!! I paused and looked at him and asked him where was he going with that wrinkled up shirt on and why he didn't iron that shirt last night. He said that he didn't know he was going to put that shirt on this morning. I said, "Well it's a good thing you didn't know, cause you're still not wearing that shirt this morning." Five minutes to go and we are out....um, why did he go in the closet and pull out another wrinkled shirt? Inquiring minds want to know! I sent him right back around. I mean, dead folks are buried in nicer clothes than that! Duh! The third time was definitely a charm because when he came out of his room, he held out his arms as if to say, "OK?" I nodded and we were still out on time. I would have rather him go to school with his chest out than with that wrinkled shirt on....OK maybe not a bare chest. That would be a little extreme.

  1. My mom use to get on me about getting my clothes out the night before. I just didn't care really if I had to rush in the morning, and iron, oh no, I didn't iron then and I don't do it now.

My husband lovingly does the ironing, I have done it but he said that he would take care of it from now on, and every now and then I will offer to do it and he gets the most serious look on his face and says, "That's okay, I got it!"

He mumbles something about train tracks when I iron! :)

    smooches,

  2. I do all the ironing in my home and pray over the men in my home as I do so. This is something that I have just learned to love doing...don't know why. However, with all that ironing, I can still promise you there are still wrinkled shirts and that will be the one that gets pulled out to be put on when we are headed out to church on Sunday morning....

I feel your pain, my friend.

    Happy Mother's Day!

  3. Leave my wrinkled sweetie pie alone (lol). The day I picked him up for school, he was coming out the door as I pulled up and he wasn't wrinkled either! I know, I know...I have a wrinkled teenager also - they get rid of the wrinkles when they want to.
